Each one of these small oil paintings have their own specific set of challenges. Deciding what to do with the background poses another set of challenges. They are quite small – 200 mm x 150 mm canvas panels so it’s extremely difficult to get the detail right. You are, after all, scaling a 5 meter long vehicle down to 20 cm.
Of course, the older one gets the less stable the hand and less focused the eyes. Which reinforces my contention that buying old artist’s work is a wise move. It’s like ly to go up in value sooner rather than later.
All six are in various stages of completion and they will be finished off in a short while, but first I’m off to visit a Pecan Nut farm for a week.
