The reference pic comes from Joshua Morey of Bakersville, North Carolina USA. He had just bought the car in 2019 when he published the pic on FaceBook. All original with 88,000 miles (140,000) km on the clock.
Joshua is co-owner of Grumpy’s Conversions in Bakersville.
This piece was originally earmarked for a close up painting of a gooseberry. Unfortunately I ate the subject. That wouldn’t have been so bad but it was the last gooseberry of the season and then the drought of 2016/2017 in the Western Cape wiped out the next crop. That’s why there’s a white oval in the centre of the panel in one of the earlier images!
The canvas was later pulled out to become a two door 1950 Chevrolet de Luxe.

This is an oil painting on a canvas panel measuring 148 mm x 210 mm (6 in x 8 in) and is one of series including Just an Old Ford, 1937 Chev Coupe, 1933 Ford Sedan Delivery, 1936 Cord Westchester, 1947/48 Pontiac Silver Streak and Grandpa’s Chev.
