1950 Chevrolet Deluxe – completed

Art By Bruce - 1950 Chevrolet Deluxe

Anther car completed today. The reference pic comes from Joshua Morey of Bakersville, North Carolina USA. He had just bought the car in 2019 when he published the pic on FB. All original with 88,000 miles (140,000) km on the clock.
Joshua is co-owner of Grumpy’s Conversions in Bakersville.

This piece was originally earmarked for a close up painting of a gooseberry. Unfortunately I ate the subject. That wouldn’t have been so bad but it was the last gooseberry of the season and then the drought of 2016/2017 in the Western Cape wiped out the next crop. That’s why there’s a white oval in the centre of the panel!
The canvas was later pulled out to become a two door 1950 Chevrolet de Luxe.

1937 Chevrolet Coupe – complete and available

Art By Bruce - 1937 Chevrolet Coupe

The 1937 Chevrolet Coupe is finally complete. I really enjoyed doing this old rust bucket with it’s patina, rusty wheel rims and broken door handle. Painting old cars is a lot cheaper than restoring them to their former glory or turning them into hot rods or “gassers”.

Here are some photos taken during the process.

It is an oil painting on a canvas panel measuring 152 x 203 mm or 6 x 8 inches.

Tomorrow it will be sealed and will be ready for shipping by 20th January 2020.

Some other small motor vehicle paintings currently nearing completion include a blue 1950 Chevrolet de Luxe, a 1952 Blue and Orange Chevrolet de Luxe, a 1933 Ford Sedan Delivery and a 1947/1948 Pontiac Silver Streak.

On My Easel – Grandpa’s Chev – 19 Oct 2019

Art By Bruce - 1950 Chevrolet Deluxe - Grandpa's Chev

I recently read about a young chap who inherited his Grandpa’s 1950’s Chev. He is busy restoring the old car but it’s a race against time. His Gran has a few months to live and he wants to take the old lady for one last drive. Here’s hoping he gets it finished in time.

This is my interpretation of how the car will look when its complete. It’s an oil painting on a canvas panel measuring 148 mm x 210 mm (6 in X 8 in). It forms part of a series which includes a 1933 Ford Sedan Delivery, Just an old Ford, 1950 Chevrolet Deluxe, 1937 Chevrolet Coupe, 1947/48 Pontiac Silver Streak, and 1937 Cord Westchester .

SOLD – Chevrolet Biscayne

Iconic 1959 Chevrolet Biscayne with ostentatious tail fins – Our Ref AP450

Art By Bruce, Acrylic Painting, 1959 Chevrolet Biscayne, Streetscape
1959 Chevrolet Biscayne

If I was asked to choose only one car out of all the makes and models ever built, then it would be the 1957 Chevrolet Belair. It was an Iconic model. But when it comes to being garish, ostentatious and even over the top, then the 1959 Chevrolet range would win hands down. The tail fins were big, really big. But beautiful. The registration plate is for the town of Kleinmond in the Western Cape where this 1959 Chevrolet Biscayne hangs.

The Ford and Chrysler Groups were no match for the General Motors Corporation’s Chevrolet brand. Even Pontiac, which was a leading General Motors brand came nowhere close to the 1959 Chevrolets. This “Cityscape” is an acrylic painting on a canvas covered board and measures 305 x 230 mm or 9 x 12 inches.

I am busy with another Chevrolet painting as well as a 1934 Dodge Pickup. There is another, completed work called Old Car and Windmill which features another General Motors Car – a 1948 Buick, but I need to create the page before you will be able to see it!

The three images below come from MomentcarBestcarmagazine and Hemmings which are great sites for motorcar fans
