Tesselaarsdal has one single restaurant that opens from Thursday to Sunday. It’s called Cafe de Poskantoor and it really was, in its early days, a post office.
For a few years I had the priviledge of living in a small settlement called Tesselaarsdal. Tesselaarsdal is about 27 km from Caledon and 50 km from Hermanus, in the Overberg district of the Western Cape. It is an example of how all sorts of people from different backgrounds can live in harmony.
I was fully intent on painting cafe De Poskantoor and got the under painting done. Then, inexplicably, I lost interest in the project. I think it probably came down to poor planning and not enough thought being put into the project before I began.
It has been painted over and is coming back as a 1937 Chevrolet Coupe.
That’s how you scumble along the road to a masterpiece!
The 1937 Chev Coupe was still “under construction” in October 2019 but is now complete (January 2020)
